Portuguese Language Courses
The PLA Programme – Portuguese as a Host Language is an initiative designed to promote linguistic, social, and professional inclusion of migrants in Portugal, supporting their full integration into Portuguese society and the labour market.
The programme follows the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) and combines quality teaching, inclusive methodologies, and institutional support.
Programme Structure
The PLA Programme is organised into the following proficiency levels:
A1 – Elementary (Beginner)
For learners with no prior knowledge or very limited exposure to Portuguese.
The focus is on basic vocabulary acquisition, self-introduction, asking simple questions, and understanding everyday expressions.
A2 – Elementary (Intermediate)
For learners with an initial foundation in Portuguese.
The goal is to improve communication skills in a wider range of situations, increasing autonomy in both spoken and written language.
B1 – Independent User (Intermediate)
Learners develop the ability to communicate effectively and independently in everyday and professional contexts, gaining confidence in European Portuguese.
B2 – Independent User (Upper-Intermediate)
Focused on developing fluency, accuracy, and effective communication in more complex contexts, including professional and academic environments.
